1. Question: What is the main power source of the system?

1. Answer: The main power source of the Trailer Guard system is a solar panel that mounts on the outside top of the trailer.Back to Top

2. Question: How long does the backup battery last before they system will no longer work? How will I know the battery is dead?

2. Answer: The backup battery will usually last 5-6 days without being charged.  The battery status LED will change from green to orange and then to red. In most cases if you clean off the solar panel or place it in an area with sunlight it will recharge the battery.Back to Top

3. Question: How do I know if my alarm in armed?

3. Answer: The alarm will chirp once if armed, and the blue status LED will flash on the outside of your trailer. Back to Top

4. Question: Can the alarm system lock up the trailer’s brakes?

4. Answer: Yes. The Trailer Guard system has a large relay that simulates the break-a-way switch being pulled and will then lock the trailer’s brakes as the alarm activates.Back to Top

5. Question: Does the battery in the control box provide the voltage to the electric brakes when a violation occurs?

5. Answer: No. The power to the electric brakes always comes from the brake-away battery.  This system only closes a relay for the break-a-way battery voltage to go to the electric brakes.  Therefore it is necessary to have a charged break-a-way battery for the brakes to fully lock.

6 Question: How many door switches can I add to the system?

6. Answer: You can add as many door switches in series to your system as you would like. Back to Top

7. Question: What do you use to control the alarm system?

7. Answer: Each alarm system comes with 2 key chain remotes. However, additional remotes can be added with each system. The lock button arms the system and it will chirp once. The unlock button will disarm the system and it will chirp twice. If you try to arm the system and a door or circuit is broken it will chirp three times. If you go to disarm it and an attempt at theft has occurred it will chirp four times. Back to Top

8. Question: Is the vibration sensor adjustable?

8. Answer: Yes, you can adjust the sensitivity of the vibration sensor to however you see fit for your trailer. Back to Top

9. Question: What is the range on the two-way pager?

9. Answer: The two-way pager allows you to arm/disarm the system and can give you up to a ½ mile notification of any violation.Back to Top

10. Question: Are their additional ways to charge the alarm system if you live in an area that doesn’t get a lot of sun?

10. Answer: Each system has an additional charging port that can be used with an AC Adapter to charge your system. You can also purchase a custom battery cable to charge the system as well.

12. Answer: Yes. Additionally a complete installation and operation guide with tools required and hardware identification sections is provided. Back to Top

13. Question: Are there ways to track my trailer(s)?

13. Answer: We now offer a GPS upgrade that gives you complete control over the alarm.   You can check status from anywhere in the US, Canada, and Mexico, and also receive notification via text message/e-mail of any violations. Back to Top

14. Question: What if I have a problem with my system or if something doesn’t work?

14. Answer: All components of the Trailer Guard systems are covered under a limited lifetime warranty and will be replaced. The battery is covered under a two-year warranty. Back to Top
